Cisco to launch smart city projects in Palermo

Cisco has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Palermo city council to convert the Sicilian capital into an "open-air laboratory" of technological and social innovation. Under the terms of the MoU, the partners will introduce a number of innovative products or services targeted at residents, tourists, businesses and local governments, while also creating new opportunities for young people and SMEs in the future Metropolitan Area of Palermo. Italian telecommunications equipment manufacturer Italtel will also take part in the smart city project, above all via its IoT competence centre in
