CityFibre in talks to sell 30% stake to expand network roll-out

CityFibre, UK wholesale full-fibre infrastructure provider, is in talks to sell a GBP billion stake in the company to finance an expansion if its network roll-out, reports the Mail on Sunday newspaper. The new funding would help CityFibre expand its fibre roll-out target to 10 million premises by 2025, up from 8 million currently.

CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch said the company was in talks about a deal with 20 pension and infrastructure funds from the UK, Australia, Europe and North America. These include the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System. A deal for a 30 percent stake in the company is expected to be agreed over the next couple of months. The winning partner would join existing shareholders Antin Infrastructure Partners and West Street Infrastructure Partners, which each hold 35 percent stakes in CityFibre.
