CK Hutchison lifts telecom revenues 2% in Q1, capex doubles on 5G deployments

CK Hutchison has issued a first-quarter trading update for its telecom business. The results for the group, including Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Hong Kong, Denmark and corporate operations, show revenues up 2 percent year-on-year to EUR 2.5 billion and the total margin going 3 percent higher to EUR 1.7 billion. Despite a volatile market landscape induced by the virus pandemic, the group also lowered its net debt by 19 percent to EUR 5.9 billion, while raising capex by 114 percent to EUR 0.7 billion for the rollout of 5G.
