Clarin posts revenues up 32% in Q1, Nextel subs down 24%

Argentinian media giant Clarin reported revenues up 32.2 percent year on year to ARS 11.9 billion in the first quarter of 2017, driven above all by higher ARPU and subscriber growth in its cable TV and internet access segments. Adjusted EBITDA in turn rose by 29.8 percent to ARS 3.7 billion thanks to the higher sales in its cable, internet access and telephony division and, to a lesser extent, higher sales in its broadcasting and programming segment. Clarin fared less well in the mobile telephony segment, with Nextel posting a 24.4 percent decline in customers to 674,400 in the first three
