CNET to shut MP3.com, then open similar service
CNET Networks said it planned to create a new service similar to MP3.com in early 2004, offering free uploads, downloads and storage space for artists as part of its Download.com software aggregation Website. However before then, on 02 December 2003, CNET intends to shut down MP3.com's existing database, containing over 1 mil songs, mainly from independent and unsigned musicians.
