
Cnil president steps down to focus on Senate elections

The president of French data protection agency Cnil, Alex Turk, will step down on 21 September to focus on the 25 September senate elections. Under a legislation adopted in March, the president of Cnil cannot be a member of parliament from September of next year. Turk said his move was intended to bring clarity for the senate race and to ensure the continuity of activities at Cnil. A new president will be elected at the data protection agency on 21 September by the body's 17 members.
