CNMC lowers Telefonica penalties for 'fake' technical faults

Spain's telecoms regulator CNMC has significantly lowered the penalties that Telefonica can apply to alternative operators for what the traditional operator considers 'fake' technical faults. These refer to faults reported by the operators that turn out to be located in the parts of the network that are not Telefonica's responsibility. Previously the amounts that the operators were required to pay Telefonica for its technical assistance depended on the gravity of the problem detected. The regulator has now standardised the penalties Telefonica can charge by reducing them an average of 75
