CNMC to fine Telefonica, Yoigo for network deal - report

Thursday 23 April 2015 | 14:21 CET | News
Spanish communications and competition regulator CNMC is set to impose a "multi-million" euro fine on Telefonica and Yoigo for the network-sharing agreement signed nearly two years ago, reports Expansion. The CNMC initiated an investigation into the deal back in November 2013 but rejected calls from rival companies Vodafone and Orange to suspend the agreement. According to unnamed sources, the CNMC is expected to rule that the agreement restricted competition due to the inclusion of a clause requiring Yoigo to seek Telefonica's permission to offer 4G services to other MVNOs.
