CNT launches DTH service in Ecuador
Ecuadorian state-owned operator CNT has launched its DTH satellite TV services. CNT reports that initial investments in the project amounted to USD 5 million, with future investment contingent on the growth of the user base. CNT's pay-TV service is available for monthly fees of USD 8 for the basic package with 15 channels, and USD 15 for the Super Plan package with 45 video channels and 10 audio channels. CNT plans to soon launch a quadruple-play offering that will include satellite TV, broadband connection

Ecuadorian state-owned operator CNT ended November with 145,000 DTH service subscribers, Entorno Inteligente reports. The CNT TV service was commercially launched in January 2012. CNT claims a 12 percent share of Ecuador's pay-TV market. CNT reports that its satellite TV service has increased the pay-TV service penetration in Ecuador by 8 percent. Claro launches DTH service in Ecuador

Claro has launched DTH services in Ecuador. Available nationwide, the Claro TV Satelital service is available for a starting price of ECS 18 (VAT not included) per month for the basic package with sports, series and movie channels, including Sony, Warner, Fox, NatGeo, HBO, CineMax, MovieCity, ESPN, Fox Sports.

CNT ends June with 30,000 DTH subscribers

Ecuadorian state-owned operator CNT has reached 30,000 DTH service subscribers in the first six months of 2012. Of these, some 4,416 users live in CNT's region 5 which comprises the Bolivar, Guayas, Los Rios and Santa Elena provinces, El Comercio reports, citing CNT regional manager Wendy Rodriguez. CNT ended June with 64,166 mobile voice lines in this region, as well as 37,914 fixed voice lines, 2,145 fixed internet ports, and 64,166 mobile broadband customers.

CNT expands CDMA450 network

Ecuadorian state-owned operator CNT has expanded its CDMA450 network coverage to the Zamora Chinchipe province. As part of the project, CNT has deployed 540 phone lines in the communities of Nambija, San Carlos de las Minas, Chamico, as well as Namirez Alto and Namirez Bajo.
