Cologne ranks first for fibre supply, only 5% of Berlin covered with high-speed internet - study

German network operators supply 80 percent of the urban areas in Cologne with FTTH/FTTB connections, followed by Munich with 75 percent and Hamburg with 72 percent, according to a study carried out by online consumer portal Verivox. According to Verivox, providers like NetCologne, M-net and previously HanseNet have contributed in these areas to the expansion of the fibre network. Across Germany, around 300 smaller providers, often subsidiaries of energy suppliers that lay fibre when extending their energy networks, are supporting the expansion.
