Competition watchdog nixes Canal Plus deal with beIN

French pay TV operator Canal Plus said France's competition watchdog has not approved of its deal with Qatari entertainment platform beIN. The Competition Authority has not given its green light for the exclusive distribution of beIN channels with Canal offerings. The French company said it will have to figure out another way of staunching losses at Canal Plus' French channels.
