Consumentenbond lawsuit over smartphone updates rejected

Wednesday 9 March 2016 | 10:42 CET | News
A court in Amsterdam has rejected a suit brought by the Consumentenbond against Samsung over its smartphone update policy. The consumer group sued Samsung for unfair trading practices, claiming a lack of transparency in its update policy and saying Samsung should support mobile devices for at least two years after purchase with new software. The judge found the case too complicated to handle in first instance and did not address the substance of the matter. It's not yet clear whether the consumer group will file for an in-depth examination of the case.
