Consumer groups oppose EU settlement with Google

The European Commission may have to rethink its proposed settlement of the Google search competition case, following opposition from consumer groups. European consumer rights group Beuc sent a letter to the EC saying the settlement is "unacceptable" and will result in continued harm to consumers. It expects Google will be allowed to continue to "manipulate" search results in order to promote its own services over rivals, despite there being "no evidence" these services are the best or most relevant to consumers. It also questions the proposed remedies aimed at giving rival services more
