Contacless payments push PIN payment prices lower for entrepreneurs

The costs of an average PIN transaction for an entrepreneur have further dropped in the past 3 years, according to Stichting Bevorderen Efficient Betalen, a foundation dedicated to promoting efficient payments. The foundation attributed the decline largely to the increasing use of contactless payments, which make payments go faster and for cheaper. An average cash payment is now 70 percent more expensive for an entrepreneur than a regular debit card payment, according to a study carried out in 2017 by Panteia for the foundation.
