Contactless now accounts for 34% of UK card transactions

Contactless payments accounted for 34 percent of all card payments in the UK in June, with online payments accounting for 14 percent, according to data released by industry group UK Finance. June saw a total of 1.4 billion card payments, a monthly record and up 12 percent over the last 12 months, driven by a strong rise in contactless (+143%) and online (+20%) purchases. Total card spending reached GBP 57.1 billion in June, up 7 percent from June 2016.
