Coppel, Virgin Mobile pick Telefonica for MVNO launches

Retailer Coppel and Virgin Mobile are planning to enter the Mexican mobile market as MVNOs, following an agreement to purchase network capacity from Telefonica Mexico, reports AM. The wholesale agreements were disclosed in Telefonica's latest quarterly report. The MVNO market is relatively underdeveloped in Mexico, with the exception of fixed operators Maxcom and Megacable, which have tried to expand their services with mobile offers. The recent changes in telecom regulation are expected to open the way for more providers, increasing competition and lowering prices. Virgin Mobile is expected
