Cork Airport mobile app tracks aircraft GPS for flight info

Friday 9 January 2015 | 10:45 CET | News
Ireland's Cork Airport has become the world's first airport to release a commercial app that allows people to track all incoming and departing flights, tracking an aircraft's progress to and from the airport using the plane's GPS information. Siliconrepublic.ie writes that it functions like Flightradar24.com and other such websites, with the added incoming or outgoing flight filter. Head of communications Kevin Cullinane said Cork Airport was the first airport in the country to provide Google Indoor maps in all its public areas. Innovations will continue this year.
