Costa Rica approves Liberty Latin America takeover of Cabletica

Thursday 28 June 2018 | 11:11 CET | News
Costa Rica's telecommunications regulator Sutel has approved Liberty Latin America's acquisition of 80 percent of cable operator Cabletica, reports business daily El Financiero. In February, Liberty Latin America announced that it had reached an agreement to buy Cabletica from current owner Televisora de Costa Rica for an enterprise value of CRC 143 billion (around USD 250 million), pending regulatory approval. Televisora de Costa Rica is set to retain the remaining 20 percent stake, with the transaction now set to close by September, said the report.
