Costa Rica postpones tax on OTT providers

Monday 17 June 2019 | 11:27 CET | News
Costa Rica has postponed the imminent imposition of value added tax on over-the-top (OTT) providers, reports NexTV News, citing the country's deputy finance minister Nogui Acosta. The country was due to start charging VAT of 13 percent on OTT players on 01 July but temporarily delayed the move due to problems defining the origin of the digital services when charging the card issuer as well as the specific companies affected. However, the government is still determined to press ahead with the measure as soon as it determines how the digital tax will be collected, said Acosta.
