Council of Europe warns of human rights impact of algorithms

The Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers has published a recommendation on the human rights implications of algorithmic systems, above all in view of their increased use for prediction, diagnosis and research on vaccines and treatments during the current coronavirus pandemic. The recommendation includes a set of guidelines calling on the 47 member states to ensure that they do not breach human rights through their own use, development or procurement of algorithmic systems.
