Court allows Telstra to install payphones without city council permission

Australia's Federal Court has ruled that Telstra does not need permission from city councils to install new payphone cabinets across the country, ZDnet reports. Under Australian law, payphone cabinets are considered as a fundamental public service, meaning operators can deploy them without council approval as long as they are defined as "low-impact facilities".
