Court blocks Sky Italia bid for exclusive Serie A digital rights

Thursday 11 June 2020 | 14:00 CET | News
Italy's Council of State has ruled that pay-TV broadcaster Sky Italia can't acquire and distribute exclusive content on its digital platforms until 2022. The decision from Italy's top administrative court comes a few months after Sky successfully appealed against a May 2019 ruling from antitrust and competition authority AGCM banning the broadcaster from distributing exclusive content on its online video streaming platform for a total of 3 years due to its dominance of the market and with a view to boosting competition in pay-TV.
