Court confirms acquittal of Fastweb founder

Rome's court of appeal has upheld the acquittal of Fastweb founder Silvio Scaglia and ex-Telecom Italia director Stefano Mazzitelli for involvement in a EUR 2 billion VAT dodging and international money-laundering scam, reports ANSA. Scaglia resigned in March 2010 after denying wrongdoing in the case, in which more than EUR 2 billion were allegedly laundered through fake international phone service purchases and sales. Alleged ringleader Gennaro Mokebl saw his 15-year sentence reduced to 10.
