Court rejects civil organisations appeal against Dutch tapping law

The Dutch government said it does not have to postpone the entry into force of the new Intelligence and Security Services Act (Wiv or tapping law), according to a ruling from the District Court of The Hague for the summary proceedings started on 7 June. Privacy organisation Bits of Freedom (BoF) and other organisations such as BIT, Privacy First, the NJCM, the NVSA, Free Press Unlimited, Voys, Speakup and the Platform Protection of Civil Rights, filed a lawsuit requesting the court stop the Wiv. The organisations believe the law cuts too deeply into civil rights but the objections raised were
