Crystal Telecom shareholders push for MTN Rwanda compliance as penalties hit dividends

Shareholders of Crystal Telecom are demanding that MTN Rwanda complies with all state laws and regulations to avoid unnecessary fines and penalties, New Times reported. Crystal Telecom has a 20 percent stake in MTN Rwanda, which has been floated on the Rwanda Stock Exchange. At its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 22 May, the shareholders were told that they would not be getting any dividends on their investment, after MTN Rwanda posted a loss of RWF 8.5 billion in 2017.
