CSA opens tender for national DTT channels

French broadcast authority CSA has launched a tender until 29 June for the licensing of national DTT channels in April 2016. The tender is part of the evolution of France's DTT framework, linked to the transfer of 700 MHz spectrum to telecom operators and the generalisation of the MPEG-4 compression standard for DTT. The authority said it would pay particular attention to service improvements. Selected candidates will not receive their authorisation until legislation is passed to set rules on technical and consumer support measures. Capacity will be released when channels are no longer
