CWC, Columbus to invest USD 400 mln in broadband expansion

Cable and Wireless Communications and Columbus International have announced the pending formation of NewCo, a new telecoms company which will operate in the Caribbean markets, the Jamaica Observer reports. The establishment of the new firm will follow the approval and closing of the merger of the two companies. Cable & Wireless Communications CEO Phil Bentley said that NewCo will invest USD 400 million to expand broadband infrastructure. The executive also said that the merger between the two firms will create over 500 jobs until 2019.
