Czech Radiokomunikace (CRA) extended the coverage of DAB+ broadcasting for Czech Radio (CRo) with three additional transmitters. The digital broadcasting was available already in Prague and Beroun, and now the operator adds Plzen, Ostrava and Brno. The coverage of the CRo's DAB+ multiplex, technically provided by CRA, will increase to 40.1 percent.

DAB was launched in Prague in June, deploying one of the most powerful transmitters in Europe (20 kilowatts). In October, DAB broadcasting was launched in Beroun and its environs.

One of the services of digital radio may be provision of maps with traffic information directly on the radio's display. DAB will now be available in the area of the highway D5. The service requires DAB receivers in cars.

DAB+ works well also as an information platform for emergency situations and catastrophes, as it is independent from availability and coverage of the internet, which in crisis situations may be down and the traffic may be limited or completely interrupted.
