Data breaches involving payment data on the rise - survey

More than half (54 percent) of IT professionals interviewed during a survey said their companies had a data breach involving payment data, that is four times in past two years in average. The survey involved more than 3,700 IT security practitioners from more than a dozen major industry sectors and was independently conducted by the Ponemon Institute on behalf of Gemalto. Also, the study found that nearly three quarters (72 percent) of those surveyed believe new payment methods such as mobile payments are putting payment data at risk.
