Detachable tablets, ultraslim notebooks to buck PC trend and grow shipments in 2019-2023 - IDC

PC and tablet shipments will continue to fall over the next five years but 2-in-1 devices (convertible PCs and detachable tablets) and ultraslim notebook PCs, such as Apple's iPad Pro devices and Microsoft's Surface tablets, will buck the trend and together grow 5 percent, according to the latest study from IDC. Overall, personal computing device shipments will fall from 2019-2022 by a CAGR of 2.4 percent. For 2020, shipments will go below 400 million, for the first time since 2010, the year the original iPad was introduced.
