
Details of 4.1 mln telecom subscribers leaked in Korea

South Korea's police are investigating a leak of personal information of 4.1 million telecommunications subscribers, The Chosun Ilbo reports. The information of customers of LG Uplus, SK Telecom and KT was leaked, with the data including names, phone numbers, addresses and bank account numbers. Details from 2.5 million LG Uplus customers was exposed, 1.5 million SK Broadband customers, 600,000 KT customers and 40,000 SK Telecom subscribers. The police suspect the data was sold to dealers in China and then resold to a Korean criminal ring that specialises in telephone fraud. The news follows a recent investigation into the hacking of KT's systems that exposed details of 12 million customers.
