Deutsche Bahn to equip new long-distance trains with windows to boost mobile signal

Deutsche Bahn will equip its new fleet of ICE long-distance trains with so-called radio-permeable windows for the first time, to enable an improved mobile reception in carriages, Deutsche Presse Agentur reports. Deutsche Bahn was already testing windows that enable improved mobile reception. A laser makes the heat-insulating metal layer of the windows so thin, almost transparent, that radio frequencies can penetrate easily in the carriage.
