Deutsche Telekom calls to end 'obsolete' system of including broadband fees in rent

Thursday 17 September 2020 | 10:06 CET | News
Deutsche Telekom supports abolition of the "obsolete" additional cost privilege rule, to enable the expansion of the fibre optic network, it said in a corporate blog post. The German government plans to reform the Telecommunication Act, among other things to codify in national law the European code on electronic communication. One element of the reform is the abolition of the ability to bill residential tenants for monthly standing charges for broadband via TV cable as part of their rent, a system known as additional cost privileges.
