Deutsche Telekom expands Netflix partnership across group

Deutsche Telekom announced an international partnership with Netflix to bring the SVOD service to more of its customers across Europe. The company said all its international subsidiaries will benefit from the agreement to bring Netflix to all customers' screens.

Deutsche Telekom started in October offering Netflix in Germany on the set-top box for its EntertainTV service. T-Mobile Poland has offered Netflix since 2016, and T-Mobile Netherlands recently started a promotional offer for six months free of the streaming service for new mobile subscribers. Netflix is also included in the operator's zero-rated data offer StreamOn in Germany, Poland, Croatia, Greece and Romania.

The new agreement sees Netflix increase its distribution with a growing number of telecom operators in Europe. The company has similar deals with Orange group and Liberty Global.

Deutsche Telekom to show Wacken festival on MagentaMusik 360, EntertainTV

Deutsche Telekom said it will broadcast live streams from the Wacken Open Air festival from 02 to 04 August on the MagentaMusik 360 app, on the app's website and on its EntertainTV service. Held in the village of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, the festival is the world's largest heavy metal festival, featuring 170 bands across eight stages, with 85,000 visitors attending over three days.

Revenues on German VoD market to double by 2023 - report

Total revenues in Germany's video-on-demand (VoD) market are on track to double over the next five years to EUR 2.5 billion in 2023, up from yearly revenues of EUR 1.1 billion in 2017, according to new forecasts from German market research firm Goldmedia. Subscription-based video-on-demand (SVoD) accounted for 74 percent of revenues on the German for-pay VoD market in 2017 and could achieve an 80 percent share by 2023 at current growth rates, found Goldmedia.

Deutsche Telekom said that 4.2 million viewers tuned in to its live broadcast of the 2018 Rock am Ring music festival on its MagentaMusik 360 music and entertainment channel between 01 June and 03 June. Deutsche Telekom introduces EntertainTV Sat for satellite households

Deutsche Telekom said it is expanding its EntertainTV service with the launch of EntertainTV Sat for satellite customers. EntertainTV Sat enables customers to use their satellite connection to receive the advantages of television over the internet, including access to more than 300 television stations from both reception modes in high picture quality.

Telekom wins exclusive rights for German comedy series

Telekom Deutschland has secured the exclusive rights for the new German comedy miniseries Arthurs Gesetz (Arthur's Law). The six episodes will premiere on 31 August of this year and be exclusively available for Telekom's IPTV service EntertainTV customers in the VoD library. The serie will also be broadcast by the TNT Comedy channel in December of this year.

Deutsche Telekom has added 25 new partners to its zero-rated StreamOn service as of 01 February. Included among the service's new partners are German email providers GMX and web.de as well as a number of regional radio stations in Germany such as Brandenburg's private radio station BB Radio, two regional affiliates of Radio Energy and the Stuttgart-based regional statin Antenna 1. Germany's national telecoms regulator, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), has banned aspects of Deutsche Telekom's zero-rated music and video streaming service StreamOn and called on the company to implement changes to align StreamOn with EU requirements on net neutrality and roaming. Telekom has until the end of March 2018 to implement these changes or risk facing fines, said the agency.
