Deutsche Telekom announced new partners for its smart home platform Qivicon. The system now connects with appliances from Bosch and Siemens and the Nest Protect smoke alarm, and the operator Cosmote in Greece and Bitron Video in Italy plan to adopt the white-label platform for their own services.

New product integrations include washing machines, dryers and dishwashers from the 'Home Connect' range made by Siemens and Bosch; heating systems from Junckers/Bosch; Nest Protect; and window coverings from Schellenberg. Existing partners Osram, Sengled, Bitron Video, Centralite and Logitech have also added new devices that can integrate with Telekom's smart home platform.

In a promotional offer valid until the end of April, new smart home customers in Germany will get a free hardware kit worth EUR 140. They need to subscribe to the Magenta SmartHome service for EUR 4.95 per month, or pay EUR 9.95 a month to have the subsidized Home Base included. The free hardware includes an HD streaming camera, a remote-control adapter plug for indoor use and a magnetic contact for notification when doors and windows are open.
