Deutsche Telekom in talks to integrate Disney+ with Magenta TV

Deutsche Telekom is in talks with Disney to finalise a deal to integrate the streaming service Disney+ with its Magenta TV platform, said Michael Hagspihl, managing director for private customer business at Telekom, in an telephone interview with Handelsblatt.

Telekom wants to become the platform that aggregates the most partners, said Hagspihl. It plans to attract around 5 million subscribers to its MagentaTV service by 2022, up from the current 3.7 million. MagentaTV has already integrated services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Competition in the TV business has become fierce following the acquisition of Unitymedia by Vodafone.
