Deutsche Telekom launches new Magenta TV plan with Disney+, TVNow for EUR 12 per month

Deutsche Telekom is expanding its partnerships in Germany with Disney and media group RTL Germany by upgrading its Magenta TV offering. From 03 August, Telekom will launch the new Magenta TV Entertain all-inclusive tariff. This will combine TV from Magenta TV with Disney+ and RTL's TVNow Premium streaming services. 

The new tariff will be available for EUR 12 per month for 12 months for Telekom fixed-line customers and customers without a Telekom internet connection. The cost will increase to EUR 15 per month from the 13th month. The price is a discount on the total cost of EUR 23.98 when booking the services individually.

Deutsche Telekom expands fibre network to 2.5 million households

Deutsche Telekom increased broadband speeds for an additional 212,000 households in June. As a result, a total of 34.2 million homes across Germany have access to broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps and over and 26 million households have access to connections up to 250 Mbps or faster.

Deutsche Telekom to offer Apple TV 4K with Magenta TV from 20 July

Deutsche Telekom is offering Apple TV 4K with Magenta TV to customers from 20 July. Apple TV 4K (32 GB) with a MagentaTV remote control costs a one-off fee of EUR 199,or EUR 10 per month with a minimum contract period of twelve months. The condition for using MagentaTV with Apple TV 4K is a subscription to a Magenta TV tariff for home and mobile use, for example, the Magenta TV Smart service for EUR 10 per month with a minimum contract period of 24 months.

Deutsche Telekom said it has added the apps for Bild and Welt TV for viewers of Magenta TV. With the Bild TV app, viewers can watch all its live broadcasts and documentaries. Viewers can find more news reports, talk shows and documentaries through the TV app of the news channel Welt.

Deutsche Telekom data traffic rises 80% during Germany-France Euro 2020 match

Deutsche Telekom said it recorded a data traffic rise of 80 percent on 15 June, the day of the match between Germany and France at the UEFA Euro 2020 men's football tournament. The previous record had been set a few days earlier at the opening match of the competition. In third place in the ranking for data traffic was the press conference by Chancellor Angela Merkel on pandemic containment measures at Easter.

Deutsche Telekom said it will introduce its new Speedport Smart 4 router on 08 June. The router costs EUR 169.99, or EUR 5.95 per month as part of the Home Network Package Smart. The Speedport Smart 4 is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and up to nine antennas to surf at 6,000 Mbps speeds. It integrates mesh technology. It can connect up to five mesh-capable repeaters. Deutsche Telekom said it is offering new content on Magenta TV in June. Magenta TV will expand its line-up by adding new episodes of the talk show "Bestbesetzung" and of drama series "Keeping Faith". The Starzplay app is now also providing highlights, series and movies for Magenta TV customers.

Deutsche Telekom said that customers who opt for its Magenta TV service will receive the Smart tariff part of the TV offering for three months without extra charge. Telekom launched the promotion to attract customers ahead of the Euro 2020 football competition this summer. The promotion is valid through 13 July for new and existing customers.

Magenta Telekom management team member moves to Deutsche Telekom

Magenta Telekom said that a member of its management team, Dabine Bothe, will move to Deutsche Telekom as senior VP and Tribe Lead Employee Journey at the beginning of May. In her new new role, Bothe will report directly to the management board of Deutsche Telekom. Alexandra Eichberger, currently VP of Change & HR Excellence at Magenta Telekom, will take over Bothe's management post on an interim basis until a successor will be found.
