Deutsche Telekom meets goal of 1.2 million FTTH connections added in 2021

Deutsche Telekom said it has met its target to build 1.2 million new FTTH connections in 2021, doubling the expansion compared with 2020. The company targets two million FTTH connections added next year. 

Telekom has also upgraded more than 3,500 5G antennas in the 3.6 GHz band for 5G standalone services. It is operating in total more than 63,000 antennas with 5G, and 90 percent of the population can already use the latest mobile communications technology, in line with the Germany's annual goal.

Telekom wants to connect a total of ten million households with fibre by 2024. From 2024, an average of 2.5 million FTTH connections each year will be added. This year alone, Telekom has laid more than 70,000 km of fibre-optic networks across Germany. In total, Telekom's fiber network covers more than 650,000 km.
