Deutsche Telekom plans open RAN town in 2021, confirms FTTH roll-out plans

In an update on its network expansion plans, Telekom also confirmed plans to add 2 million fibre-optic connections per year from 2021. Its goal is to ensure that all households in Germany have direct access to the fibre network by 2030. The company has already expanded fibre to another 600,000 households this year, up from 270,000 in the prior year. So far, Telekom has laid 575,000 km of fibre-optics, mostly in new developments, connecting 170,000 homes. By 2023, another 3,000 business parks will be connected to the fibre-optic network.
