Deutsche Telekom rejects settlement, lawsuit starts

Deutsche Telekom has rejected a last minute settlement proposal from the 17,000 shareholders who filed a massive damages claim against the operator. The operator called the whole claim unfounded and said it will continue the case in court. The claim suggests that the prospectus of the third large share offering by Deutsche Telekom in 2000 did not explain the risks from the multi-billion dollar acquisition of US mobile operator Voicestream and that Deutsche Telekom's valuation of its real estate was too high. The rejection of the settlement means that the case has begun and will see almost four working weeks of trial days including testimonies of former CEOs and CFOs of Deutsche Telekom.
