Deutsche Telekom releases StreamOn Gaming option, boosts data in Young tariffs
Deutsche Telekom has released its zero-rated StreamOn Gaming option and revised its MagentaMobil Young tariff portfolio for customers under the age of 27 by allowing customers to add StreamOn Gaming to their mobile tariff at no extra charge. StreamOn Gaming enables customers to play online and multiplayer games on their smartphone without consuming data in their mobile tariff.

StreamOn Gaming covers an initial 17 games, including popular titles like Pokemon Go and Fortnite, and the service can be added to all of its MagentaMobil Young tariffs, said Telekom. Rovio Entertainment subsidiary Hatch has likewise been added as one of the initial partners of StreamOn Gaming. Customers over the age of 27 can also add StreamOn gaming to their MagentaMobil S through L tariffs for an additional EUR 2.95 per month. 

Telekom is also increasing the data volume in its MagentaMobil Young XS and M tariffs for new and existing customers as of 31 August. The MagentaMobil XS Young tariff will offer 2 GB instead of 1 GB of data per month, while the MagentaMobil M tariff will contain 8 GB instead of 6 GB of data.

Deutsche Telekom is discounting its MagentaMobil Young XS tariff for people under 28 years of age until 28 January for new customers who sign up online, writes Teltarif.de. The MagentaMobil XS Young includes unlimited calls and SMS and 2 GB data volume for EUR 9.95 per month on a two-year contract, half the usual price. The price rises to EUR 19.95 from the 25th month.

Deutsche Telekom extends online postpaid discounts to 12 months

Deutsche Telekom has extended the promotional discount on its MagentaMobil postpaid plans to 12 months from the usual six. This means customers on the top L plan with 10 GB per month can save EUR 240 over the life of the contract.

1&1 adds MediaPad M5 Lite, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 to tariff portfolio

Germany's 1&1 has added the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite 10 LTE and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 to its tablet tariff portfolio. Both tablets are available in combination with flat rate data tariffs with 1&1 for no extra surcharge. With the LTE M tablet tariff, they cost EUR 16.99 per month for twelve months and then EUR 19.99 per month, with access to 4G service at 50 Mbps from Telefonica and 2 GB of data. They cost EUR 19.99 for twelve months and then EUR 24.99 with the LTE L tariff.

Deutsche Telekom offers unlimited mobile plan free for 3 months to fixed customers

Deutsche Telekom has launched a special offer for its fixed customers to encourage them to take its MagentaEins fixed-mobile packages. Until 05 November, they can benefit from unlimited mobile calls, SMS and data for three months. After the promotional period, customers have the option to switch to an eligible MagentaEINS mobile plan of their choice, which comes with benefits such as a EUR 10 discount or double mobile data.

DeTe releases technician tracking app

Deutsche Telekom has released 'Mein Telekom Techiker', an app which informs customers by SMS of the arrival of their Telekom technician. Customers receive a link via SMS containing information on the expected arrival time of their Telekom technician as well as his/her location en route.

Telekom to add gaming option to StreamOn - report

Deutsche Telekom is planning to add a new gaming option to its StreamOn offer of zero-rated data. Unlike like the existing options for zero-rated data for streaming music or video, which are included free with certain plans, the new StreamOn Gaming option will cost an extra EUR 2.95 per month, according to a report from Teltarif.de. Only customers on the Young plans will get the gaming option free.

German regulator orders Vodafone to introduce changes to zero-rated Pass after net neutrality investigation

In terms of video streaming, Vodafone does not reduce the quality of video streams at times as does Deutsche Telekom with its own zero-rated service StreamOn, although Vodafone said it reserved the right to reduce streams to SD quality within legal limits. Deutsche Telekom sales down 1.3% in Germany in Q1 on lower device revenues

Deutsche Telekom reported revenues in its home market Germany down 1.3 percent year-on-year to EUR 5.33 billion, hurt by lower device sales and the new accounting rules for handsets. The company said that excluding these effects, service revenues were 1.2 percent higher, including a 3.2 percent rise in mobile service revenue without the accounting impact. Adjusted EBITDA rose 1.3 percent to EUR 2.08 billion, thanks to cost reductions.

Deutsche Telekom adds ARD apps, media libraries as StreamOn partners

Deutsche Telekom has added German broadcaster ARD, including its audio and media libraries as well as the apps for ARD news services Das Erste and Tagesschau, as a partner for its zero-rated StreamOn option as of 01 May, reported TelTarif.de. Other new StreamOn partners include the radio stations Leipzig Beatzz, Radio Erzgebirge 2 and Radio Leipzig 2 and the video-streaming partner Deutsche Musikfernsehen, bringing the total number of StreamOn audio and video partners to 154 and 76, respectively.

Telekom makes StreamOn available to FCB Mobile customers

Deutsche Telekom has made its zero-rated StreamOn service available to a discount brand for the first time by opening it up to customers in selected, higher-value tariffs from FCB Mobile, the MVNO from Telekom and football team FC Bayern, reported TelTarif.de. Deutsche Telekom adds 15 new streaming partners to StreamOn

Deutsche Telekom has added 15 new partners to its zero-rated mobile data service StreamOn as of 01 April, bringing Telekom's total number of StreamOn partners to 148 audio-streaming services and 72 video-streaming services. StreamOn added seven audio- and eight video-streaming partners 01 April, including the audio services BookBeat, HarourTown Radio, Meinsportradio.de and Radio Neandertal and the video-streaming platforms N-TV, RTL.de, RTL Next, Sport.de, Vox.de and Wetter.de.

Deutsche Telekom unveils Germany's first mobile tariffs with unlimited data

Deutsche Telekom has added new mobile tariffs for private and business customers to its tariff portfolio, including the first mobile tariffs for the German market with an unlimited data volume.
