Deutsche Telekom to expand Wi-Fi network, offers free apps

Deutsche Telekom is considerably expanding its offering of Wi-Fi public access points as part of its strategy to focus on three key technologies for mobile internet: existing UMTS capacities are being expanded and their speed increased, while LTE and Wi-Fi access complete the set. Wi-Fi is expected to add a new service as well as help offload data from mobile networks. The company will be expanding its own hotspot network around the world and partnering with France Telecom for Wi-Fi roaming as well. The operator also offers several free apps to users with Wi-Fi enabled devices to enable
