Deutsche Telekom to stop MagentaGaming cloud service

Deutsche Telekom said it is discontinuing the MagentaGaming cloud service on 26 February. The MagentaGaming Shop will no longer be available after 25 January, but gamers can continue to play games already purchased and find them on the starting page under "Your own games". The MagentaGaming app on devices and MagentaGaming Friendly Streamer Program will work until 25 February.

DT launched the online games service in August 2020 in an attempt to strengthen its content offering and compete with OTT services. However, demand for the service did not turn out as expected, a company spokesman told Heise online, so Telekom has decided to discontinue the service.

German consumer electronics market revenue to fall 4% this year - Bitkom

Revenues in the consumer electronics market will reach EUR 8.96 billion this year, down by 4 percent from EUR 9.3 billion last year, according to figures published by the digital association Bitkom. Revenues has slowed down partly as a result of a mismatch between high demand on one side and delivery bottlenecks and material shortages on the other. Half of Germans play computer games, over 80% on mobile - survey

Half of the German population (50%) play video or computer games, according to a survey conducted by the digital association Bitkom. The vast majority of the respondents (84%) play games on smartphones. The younger generations play computer games the most, at 81 percent of 16 to 29 year-olds and 67 percent of 30 to 49 year-olds.
