Digicel urges Guyana telecoms sector liberalization

Digicel reports it has invested over USD 70 million to develop its network and services in Guyana, Guyana Chronicle reports, citing Digicel Guyana CEO Gregory Dean. The statement was made at a press conference celebrating Digicel Guyana's fifth anniversary. According to Dean, Digicel's network currently covers 90 percent of Guyana's population. The operator plans to further expand its network in coming years, but such a project requires a level playing field, Dean added. "We would like liberalization to happen as soon as possible because that would create a level playing field for everyone,"
