Digicel welcomes FCC plan to repeal net neutrality

Digicel has welcomed the proposal by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to roll back net neutrality regulation as a "victory for telecoms, consumers and economies," urging Caribbean regulators to take note and avoid a "one size fits all" approach in their markets. In a statement signed by Digicel Caribbean and Central America CEO Vanessa Slowey, the operator said it supported an open internet but the US approach to net neutrality "favoured the interests of the large internet companies like Google and Facebook (who notably invest no money in infrastructure) while stifling
