Digital music sales stagnate in Spain

Digital consumption of music in Spain stagnated in 2013 as the country continued its fight against music piracy and illegal downloads. Data from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) revealed that digital sales for 2013 were EUR 48.1 million, lower than the EUR 48.3 million registered the previous year. This marks the first time in the past decade that the digital sales figure has dropped year on year and stands in marked contrast with the rest of Europe, where digital consumption of music went up by 13.3 percent on average.
