Digital music sales surpass CD sales for first time in Germany in H1 - BVMI

Digital music sales in Germany rose 35.2 percent in the first half of 2018, capturing a market share of 47.8 percent and surpassing sales of CDs for the first time, according to new figures from the industry group BVMI. Sales of CDs on the other hand fell 24.5 percent over the first half of 2017, giving them a market share of 34.4 percent. The German music industry recorded revenues of EUR 727 million for the first half, a 2 percent decrease compared to revenues of EUR 742 million the year earlier.
