Digital sales boost recorded music revenues in 2012

Global recorded music revenues were up 0.3 percent in 2012, boosted by downloads, subscriptions, and other channels, according to IFPI's annual Digital Music Report. Global recorded music industry revenues rose to USD 16.5 billion in 2012, the first year of industry growth since 1999. Digital revenues saw accelerating growth for the second year running, up 9 percent to USD 5.6 billion, with most major digital revenue streams - downloads, subscriptions and advertising-supported - on the rise.
