Digitenne gets new licence to 2030

Thursday 11 August 2016 | 10:30 CET | News
Dutch DTT operator Digitenne, owned by KPN, has received its new licence, after the government cancelled plans for an auction. The new licence takes effect from 01 January 2017 and runs through 2030. It includes a requirement to free up the 700 MHz band for mobile services by the start of 2020. As a result KPN will need to migrate the service to DVB-T2 by that date. Digitenne customers should see no change in service under the new licence. The licence issued 11 August is still subject to market comment and appeal before becoming final.
