Mexican pay-TV provider Dish has announced the activation of a free mobile phone service for its DTH customers via US-based MVNO Freedompop. The launch follows the deal reached between Freedompop and Dish’s parent company MVS Communicaciones at the end of last year and, according to CNN Expansion, the service will initially be available in 16 states before rolling out to the rest of the country in the first quarter of 2018.
All customers will be offered a SIM card with 100 minutes of calls, 100MB of data, 100MB for social networks and 100 SMS a month, with excess minutes, data and SMS payable via Dish bills. Freedompop announced the launch of its Mexican service a year ago, operating on America Movil’s Telcel network.
